What is a pURL?
A pURL is a personalized URL created specially and individually for each recipient of a marketer's direct mail message.
For example: www.vinnyspizza.com/sally4836
The purpose is to enable you, as a marketer, to open up a relationship with the consumer via your web site, the goal being
to convert the consumer to a customer. The landing page is personalized in the consumer's name and, at this point,
you can present an offer and make a case for buying or using your products. You can also use this opportunity
to obtain contact information from the consumer - such as email, cell phone number, etc. - that can be used to later engage
new customers in an ongoing relationship.
Barack Obama's hugely successful approach of engaging followers through text
messaging has caused hundreds of marketers to emulate this personalized approach, whether through their web sites or through mobile

Sally Johnson has received a postcard mailing or an email from Vinny's Pizza telling her that she can receive coupon offers from Vinny's by going
online and keying in Vinny's URL plus her name.
www.vinnyspizza.com/sally4836
On Vinny's site, she will be given an opportunity to receive
coupons at her email address or via her cell phone...and these coupon offers can be redeemed at Vinny's Pizza.
We've used Vinny's Pizza as an example but Sally can participate in as many offers from other marketers as she chooses.
